Many people are as excited by the mad adventure we’re on as we are. Friends, colleagues and neighbours in the local villages have offered their practical advice, expertise and creativity. One unique gift has been the sound of the very first notes of live music in the château. Our friend Willem brought his soprano saxophone when he came to stay, suggesting it might be a good idea to inaugurate the house with music. Needless to say, I loved the idea and suggested we add a bit of ceremony. We got all jazzed up for Willem’s saxophone on two occasions. One late evening, we guided him with candle light and incense through the chateau’s rooms and imposing staircase. As the place has been abandoned for so many years and there’s little to no electrical lighting, it can get a bit ghostly in the dark. But the moment the saxophone started spilling out its harmonious and healing tones the house just lit up.
Sultry, evocative and emotional
The next day, we were struck by the beauty of the light in the late afternoon and Willem played for us –and for Lescure’s awakening- under one of the giant cedar trees. The live performance continued in the orangery and in what will one day be our bedroom. May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.I wish you peace.
